With so many information technology applications and tools, the market is flooded with choices, leaving many companies wondering what the ideal solution is for their organization. Navigating the chaos and helping companies determine the best user interface to deliver productive workflow is Atlanta-based Technical Innovation LLC.
“The goal is to bring a simple and elegant solution for precise user workflow, using technology as the key to accelerate business and collaboration,” explains Chris Johnson, chief technology officer for Technical Innovation. “We assemble a team of software and hardware specialists to help our customers identify their needs and create a user-friendly solution.”
Seamless integration
Technical Innovation works with top executives from Fortune 1,000 companies, including Home Depot, Turner Broadcasting Systems, FedEx, Met Life, Coca-Cola and Nissan, just to name a few. From top corporations to state and federal government agencies, universities and churches, Technical Innovation delivers a custom-fit solution for any workflow.
The company’s system designers are experts who create solutions that successfully merge into facilities where they are implemented and work seamlessly within the building’s infrastructure and with existing information-technology systems. From comprehensive system design to turnkey design-build services, including custom software development, integration, project management, training and ongoing customer support, the company creates a complete package.
Technical Innovation is a leading expert in everything from streaming video to on-demand rich media, collaborative video conferencing, high-definition displays (HDTV, 4K), digital archiving, video retrieval and a vast array of emerging technologies.
The company’s expertise is the result of a rich 75-plus-year history that traces the evolution of the audio-visual industry in the southeastern U.S. “Technical Innovation first launched in 1937 as the Reagan Visual Education Company, with regional offices serving the south,” tells Mike Landrum, CEO of the Atlanta-based firm. “The current ownership group formed in 2004. Our success has been driven by providing best in class design-build, video-centric solutions, delivered to the market with exceptional customer service.”
Called on nationally and worldwide
Based in Atlanta, Technical Innovation still has a strong customer base in the south, but the company has expanded across the country and globally. Technical Innovation now employs some 350 professionals across regional offices in Birmingham, Alabama; Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina; Memphis and Nashville, Tennessee; Houston, Texas and Washington, D.C.
Technical Innovation is even carving its way into a hot New York City tech market. “Our most recently launched office is in Manhattan,” shares Johnson.
However, the company does not rest on its laurels. “Outside of the U.S., more multinational companies are relying on us for home-country service,” adds Landrum. “This is becoming consistent across the board for our clients with international operations because of their confidence in us for the ease of integration and service. Big names, such as IBM and Intuitive Surgical, are using Technical Innovation internationally.”
“Our international reach is growing because we have the ability to monitor and manage systems quickly for our international partners,” continues Johnson. “It’s a great time to deploy these capabilities.”
Connecting to any cloud
As a highly vertically integrated company, Technical Innovation delivers framework technologies to meet the requirements of the business workflow across a wide spectrum of applications. The framework provides the necessary technical integration strategy for delivery of simplicity and scale, resulting in a more productive work environment.
“The cloud-centric AV model is quickly becoming a dynamic solution for both private and public clouds; creating a comprehensive approach to managing and monitoring the video infrastructure,” notes Johnson.
The company delivers any-to-any connectivity with an easy to set up and use virtual meeting space TI-VMRplus, a simple and scalable solution for face-to-face communication. TI-VMRplus is a cloud-based, flexible video conferencing solution, with global points of presence.
The Video as a Service (VaaS) platform supports Call Manager software, Microsoft Lync and other video collaboration technology, including WebRTC.
This allows businesses to connect with employees who are on the road or working remotely anywhere in the world, utilizing video with clients while connecting with mobile devices and PC’s. Technical Innovation’s VMRplus product offers a comprehensive platform for video collaboration, and without the massive infrastructure investment.
The right solution for Wright
A case study that highlights Technical Innovation’s unique approach to re-engineering communications and integrating cloud solutions is Wright Medical Technology (WMT), a Memphis-based leader in orthopedic surgical solutions for the foot and ankle.
“The CEO of WMT wanted to make collaborative technology available to more employees, which is typically limited to a small amount of rooms aimed at a board of directors or top-tier people,” explains Johnson. “His goal was to extend the technology to thousands throughout WMT. He also wanted a system that’s scalable and easily expandable with corporate growth.”
WMT’s IT group has focused all of its internal communications on a single, unified platform: Microsoft Lync enhanced with Crestron RL meeting-room technology. “We didn’t want our people to have to learn yet another system,” says Mike Colley, end-user infrastructure architect for WMT. “If you know Microsoft Lync, you already know how to use Crestron RL. Our employees see the technologies as one and the same, and they think of them together.”
When WMT moved into new headquarters, a priority for the company during the move was to re-engineer meeting room technology, especially the video and collaborative systems essential to the geographically-dispersed teams. Working with Microsoft Lync as a basis, within three months Technical Innovation installed single-screen Crestron RL systems in 24 conference rooms and executive offices, dual-screen systems in two conference rooms and custom integrator’s conferencing and collaboration from room to room and from room to individual employee.
The three training rooms in the new facility also include Crestron Capture HD systems so users can record the sessions for online access. By essentially creating an extension of Microsoft Lync, which WMT users were already accustomed to, Technical Innovation created a repeatable workflow-friendly solution for hundreds of employees.
Technical Innovation LLC has fast become an industry leader, known for this type of targeted technology and well-defined solutions geared specifically to the client’s needs.
